Fountain of Development Research and Action(FODRA) was established in 1994 as a development support resource organisation to provide professional support to NGOs, development agencies in the grassroots level capacity building on project planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development programmes. As a development support organisation, FODRA has handled a series of development support/capacity building programmes in collaboration and partnership with a large number of grassroots NGOs, NABARD and SIDBI. One of the highlighted development support intervention was the implementation of a rural microcredit and women empowerment programme in 150 villages in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh on turnkey basis for NIRPHAD, a rural health services delivery NGO through a long-term organisation capacity building and hand-holding agreement with the donor agency, SIMAVI, The Netherlands and NIRPHAD. Similarly, FODRA provided professional capacity building support to the rural NGO partners of CORDAID, The Netherlands in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to strengthen the NGOs in programme planning, monitoring and effective local resource mobilization.
FODRA was registered as Non-Governmental Organisation in 1997 under Indian Societies Registration Act of 1860, and launched the urban development programme in the slums and informal settlements using Time Bound People Centered Development approach with a clear exit strategy.
